February 22 is National Margarita Day, and it arrives at just the right time. The cold, gray, winter months in Michigan have us longing for an escape. I admit, before writing this post I was feeling a little burnt out, overworked, and just a little gray myself. So, I decided to call up my besties to go out taste test different margaritas at local restaurants! I like to consider myself a margarita and taco lover and connoisseur, so I have a great pulse on where to find the best of the best. Here’s a look at our itinerary for some of the best margaritas in and around Lansing.
First Stop – Fiesta Charra
Fiesta Charra is an original favorite of mine. This place is a weekly staple in our house because the food is great, the location is easy and convenient for us, and their spicy ranch salsa is next level!
I went with my classic, a skinny margarita. I love the skinny because it is pretty straight to the point. It has fresh squeezed orange and lime juice, a little soda water, and tequila! My cousin went with their classic margarita and my “twisted sister” as I call her, went for the tropical margarita, with pineapple juice and orange liqueur, it was pretty delish!
Second Stop – Pablo’s Mexican Restaurant
At Pablo’s, I went for their classic margarita, which was super refreshing and delicious. My sister ordered their delicious Paloma, and my cousin opted for a nice vodka beverage (she is not a big tequila girl).
Because of my love for tacos, I ordered their Mexican tacos with shredded pork and pineapple, topped with cilantro and onions and a side of beans and rice. I was in heaven! My cousin ordered their chicken tacos, and my sister ordered a delicious soup to warm her up on the cold evening!
Third Stop – Acapulco Mexican Grill
Acapulco’s Frandor location is a hidden gem if you ask me! The atmosphere is always fun, energetic, and welcoming! Their food comes out fresh and hot and their drinks are simply the best. My favorite drink is the Paloma, like none other, the color of the drink is so pretty in pink, which is my favorite color. Since we ate at Pablo’s I opted for the Mexican ChorizoQueso, which warms my heart and tummy, and I added in some fresh jalapenos for an extra kick!
Mexican food is probably one of my favorites. But I think what was more important about this night, was the fact that I was out of the house, not worried about anything other than the food and drinks in front of me. We laughed, we had fun talks and don’t worry, we had my dad driving us around keeping us safe and warm!
