Katie Jones

Owner/Co-Founder

Hey Mama!

I’m Katie Co-Owner and Founder of Lansing Mom. Five years ago I was burnt out from the teaching world and felt like there had to be something that was a better fit for me as a Mother. Since then I've launched four businesses, Lansing Mom, The Jones Photo Co., The Jones Company, and Michigan With Kids. I'm passionate about Mothers thriving in whatever they choose to do or be. Through my work, I share about mental health advocacy, I use photography to capture mothers in the stages that they are in, and I strive to connect Moms to a community they feel fully seen and supported in.

I currently live in Royal Oak with my husband Ben, and my children, Walter (6), Arlo (5), and Lennon (2).

My passions are connection, adventuring, healing, and encouraging Moms to care for themselves. Making connections with other moms has become a part of who I am as a mother, and a business owner. We all have something to share, a connection to make, and hopefully a friend to be found. I can’t wait to connect with you!

Elizabeth Lewis

Owner/Co-Founder

Hi there! It's me, Elizabeth. I'm the Co-Owner/Founder of Lansing Mom, the Owner and Founder of Detroit Mom, Co-Founder of Retreat to Reclaim, and I'm also a Human Design Mentor. A little over seven years ago my husband gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. He asked me if I wanted to go back to my life at the hospital or stay home with our kids and pursue my dream of running Detroit Mom full-time. After a lot of thought, I decided I wanted to live a life without regret so I put in my notice at the hospital and became a full-time entrepreneur. Five years later we launched Lansing Mom because we knew so many moms were seeking community.

I currently live in Farmington Hills with my husband Joel, and four of my favorite people: Lauren (22), Harper (10), Nolan (7), and Maryn (4). Our life is chaotic and I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm a lover of people, podcasts, margaritas, underbaked chocolate chip cookies and traveling. Oh, and taking an insane amount of photos that I'm certain I will never print off.

I live for supporting local small businesses, especially ones owned by women, a good restaurant and a place to gather with friends.

I dreamed of a job that would allow me to motivate and empower women to create connections. Community is of the utmost importance to me because I don't feel anyone should ever have to do motherhood alone. I cannot wait to share the many benefits of being a part of the Lansing Mom community. We are here to support and uplift you along the way. So, let's be mom friends!

Erica Lachowski

Owner

Hello! I’m Erica, Co-owner of Lansing Mom. Three years ago I left my job to stay at home with my girls full-time. I wanted to be there for my girls in the early years when I felt it mattered most. Once I settled in to staying at home I realized how much I wanted (and needed) something for myself and to be able to connect with other moms. I joined Lansing Mom’s executive team as the content coordinator and became an owner shortly after in 2022. It has been the most difficult and rewarding position in my professional life so far. Being able to run a business that I love with my kids in tow most days means so much to me.

I grew up in Lansing and graduated from MSU. I think Lansing has so much to offer and has tons of hidden gems! I currently live in Mason with my husband, Jason, and two girls, Eloise and Charlotte.

In my free time you will usually find me organizing something, reading a book, listening to a podcast, or snuggled up on the couch binge watching a show or rom com. I also love traveling. Whether it is a family vacation, a girls trip, or a trip with my husband, you don’t have to ask me twice! One of my family's favorite things is camping in Michigan during the summer; nothing beats a Michigan summer! I also love traveling to new places and trying new foods. My husband and I made a commitment when our first daughter was born that we would take a kid-free trip every year. Six years in and we have stuck to that and It has been so amazing to get that intentional time away and experience new things together.

Stepping into motherhood wasn’t an easy journey for me. I struggled a lot and still have moments that consume me. I wish I would have had a community of moms like me sooner. My hope is that Lansing Mom can bring moms together to support one another, show them they are not alone, and remind them that motherhood looks so different for everyone! I love being able to learn from this amazing community of women everyday and share the honesty of motherhood.
