Lansing Mom’s Steamy Valentine’s Movie Guide

You have peanut butter on your pants and haven’t slept eight hours since you got married. Your husband sneaks behind you to gently kiss your ear and instead of reciprocating, you tell him to back off and help with the screaming toddler. Whether this is you (or maybe you fit a different scenario better), there is no better time to add some steam back into the relationship than Valentine’s Day!

I LOVE movies as a way to spend time together which is why I have created the Lansing Mom’s Steamy Valentine’s Movie Guide! Valentine’s Day is coming soon and it’s a good reminder to make sure we are keeping the “fun” parts of being married present. So I challenge you to take off those comfy pants with the drawstring, pour some wine, and pick from the list below with options for every comfort level.

Steam Level One: Lukewarm

Love and Basketball

Quincy and Monica have more than just basketball in common. This high school couple grapples with what life throws at them both on and off the court. Will their relationship be able to withstand it all? Don’t let this seemingly-PG level fool you, their intimacy cannot be denied.

The Boy Next Door

Jennifer Lopez gets involved with her hot younger neighbor. The more she wants to end things because of the age difference, the more he pulls her in. Get ready for steamy suspense.

Steam Level Two: Hot to the Touch

Dirty Dancing

In this absolute classic, we are reminded that, “Nobody puts baby in the corner.” A must watch for a great story and underlying sexual tension.

Titanic

Fancy necklace, nude drawing, and steamy car scene. You can’t beat this romance-filled movie. This also includes one of the greatest movie love stories of all time. Don’t forget the tissues.

Steam Level Three: Boiling

Fifty Shades of Grey

I have two words for you: Red Room. This is your “good girl wants to help and change her significant other” with a whole lot of erotica. This book-turned-movie involves a man who is very into submissive fantasies with a dark past. Will his seemingly innocent new lady be able to handle him?

Unfaithful

Wife has a random and naughty affair. Her husband finds out and becomes enraged. The sexual tension as well as the thrilling suspense will keep you watching.

The Notebook

You can’t deny the passion between Allie and Noah. This story is one of Nicholas Sparks’ novels that gripped all of our hearts when it came out. Noah and Allie come from very different worlds and are torn apart by those worlds. The passion between these two is evident, but is it enough?

Eyes Wide Shut

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise (while they were still married) and a weekend of masked orgies. This was noted as one of the hottest movies of all time. Kidman and Cruise play a married couple with some erotic friends and embark on quite the sexual adventure.

Cruel Intentions

Reese Whitherspoon and Ryan Phillipe play a brother-sister team with an interesting dynamic. Reese bets Ryan he cannot convert a virgin. She and her brother end up on a sexual wild ride with a new friend.

Blue is the Warmest Color

Teen and her painter friend explore their sexuality. This was noted as sexual but also a story that will stay with you for days.

Blue Valentine

This is a story of the breaking up of a marriage, but also includes lots of steamy scenes between a couple who cannot catch a break.

Closer

Betrayal and lots of sexy scenes make for one steamy movie. This movie follows four individuals who seem to all be intertwined in infidelity.

Brokeback Mountain

Yes heartbreaking, but Jake and Heath have some serious chemistry. This movie is heartbreaking with a ton of passion as two men explore what their hearts truly want.

Jessica Walter
I am a working mom who left the education world after 7 years to pursue my business career. I work as a product developer at a local insurance company and love it. My husband and sons are my world. We struggled for 3 years with fertility prior to adopting our first son. Later, we really wanted him to have a sibling so pursued IVF using donor embryos (because we firmly believe love makes a family) and were then blessed with our second son. When I’m not working or playing the wife/mom role, I love to run, read, bake, write, and tinker with photography. We all have a story to share and I hope some of my experiences will help others.
