How did you come up with the idea of your business for The One Wish Foundation, and how did you start?
Throughout my journey to be a mom and navigating the infertility and pregnancy loss world, I told myself not only would I get to the other side, but when I did, I would give back and help those impacted.
Knowing what you know now, is there anything you would have done differently when you were first starting out?
I would have slowed down my first year. I had all of these visions and some things could have waited until we were more established. Quality over quantity.
What is the best business advice you’ve ever been given?
It’s okay to get help and advice from others.
Have you faced adversity in business due to being a woman? How did you navigate that?
Foruntately I have not. Infertility and pregnancy loss is a predominant female audience so this hasn’t been something I have experienced.
How do you persevere in challenging times?
I remind myself of my why. Every single person impacted by infertility and loss is why I am here and they motivate me to keep going.
What impact do you want The One Wish Foundation to have?
I want everyone impacted by infertility and loss to know they are not alone. Our community is here to support and cheer them on during this isolating process. I also want to ease the financial burden that infertility brings
What are the pros and cons of being a woman business owner in 2024?
Balancing the business world with the mom world. You are wearing the partner hat, mom hat, business owner hat and trying to be your best at each. That can get to you. But at the same time, those are the joys. I am proud of what I am doing and share this joy with my husband and my kids.
What knowledge would you share with someone who wants to become an entrepreneur?
Research as much as possible before you start. Have a vision of where you want to go with your business, but then have that be your ending goal and create smaller steps to reach first. It isn’t a race.
What do you do for personal and professional development?
I follow other non-profits and network with their owners for ideas.
What Mantra or Quote do you live by?
Find your why and keep fighting for it.
What’s Your Favorite Place in Lansing or Michigan?
Lansing – Old Town (the shopping, foodie venues, and scene is my kind of vibe). Michigan – Holland. The beach, downtown, and community always make me feel like I could stay forever.
