Festive holiday events across Lansing

This week we got our first snowfall of the season, which brings my holiday spirit to a whole new level! I’m so excited to celebrate the holidays with my kids, as this year they’re both old enough to really enjoy it. So, I’ve compiled this list of festival holiday events across Lansing — a couple that are new to me, and others I’ve been attending for years. Maybe I’ll run into you at one of these!

2022 Silver Bells in the City

A longstanding Lansing tradition, Silver Bells in the City is a free event, open to all. It includes an electric light parade, the lighting of the state Christmas tree, a firefly drone light show and fireworks over the Capitol building.

Insider tip: the event is very fun, very busy, and very cold. Bundle up and you’ll have a blast!

This year’s event is on Friday, November 18th, from 5-9pm in downtown Lansing. Learn more at the Facebook event.

Kringle Holiday Market

This new event is brought to you by Downtown Lansing, Inc. It will feature holiday shopping, ice skating, street food and fun activities over several weeks. Located in Reutter Park downtown, the market opens on November 17th. It will run Thursdays 3-7pm, Fridays 11am-7pm, and Saturdays 11am-7pm through December 17th.

Insider tip: I am so excited to visit this new market! Reutter Park is right across the street from the Downtown Capital Area District Library, so you can grab some holiday books while you’re there.

Jolly Holiday Artisan Market

For even more holiday shopping, check out the Jolly Holiday Artisan Market in REO Town. The market will run on five weekends, Saturday 11am-6pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. Black Friday the market will be open 11am-6pm. All shops are hosted in the REO Town Marketplace on Washington Avenue.

Insider tip: This is my neighborhood, and I love being able to walk to this festive market. Make sure you stop by Blue Owl Coffee for some of my favorite cold brew to sip while you shop.

Now in its 2nd year, the Ham Sweet Holidaze event offers a mini market and Thanksgiving Turkey Pick-Up. Get fresh wreaths, foods and gifts from a variety of local vendors.

The event is Saturday, November 19th from 10am-5pm at Hilltop Views Farm in Williamston. For more on the event and a special Early Bird preview on Friday, visit the Facebook event.

Insider tip: I don’t have one, but the name alone is enough to make me very interested!

There are so many other great holiday events going on in our community this time of year. Go out and support your neighbors, and make new holiday traditions while doing it!
