Hello! My name is Taylor, and I’m so excited to be a part of Lansing Mom. I’m a sister, first-time mom, and lifelong learner. My hometown is Charlotte, Michigan, and I’m a proud Michigan State alumna. At MSU, I studied advertising and public relations. Right now, I work as a communications specialist. Some of my favorite things include a cup of strong black coffee, a good historical fiction book and being near the lake or ocean.
What Makes Me Tick
I’ve always had a love for the written word. As a child, I would “write” my own newspaper and ask my parents if I could put it in our neighbors’ mailboxes. This was before I learned my letters, so these pages were full of illegible scribbles. Talk about breaking news! Eventually these squiggles turned into book reports, short stories, and poems. My childhood dream was to publish my own work someday. I hope to make myself proud by achieving this goal.
My other passions include reading, painting, and filling up my phone storage with pictures and videos of my daughter and my partner, Paul. Paul and I had our first date in June 2021 at Sansu in East Lansing. We quickly bonded over our love of food and superb comedic timing. Neither of us had any idea that less than two years later, we would be welcoming to the world our baby girl, Leilah Grace.
Family
Parenthood has been an adventure full of messes, laughter, and tears. I’m thankful to have Paul by my side as we navigate both the good and bad days. My biggest challenge is the lack of sleep. As a former “at least eight-hours of sleep a night” girl, I use to set ten different alarms on my phone to coax me out of bed each morning. Now, I have the loudest and cutest alarm clock in the world. At times I miss my freedom and sleeping in, but I can’t imagine my life without Leilah. One of my favorite things about parenthood is the endless discovery, each day I’m learning new things about my little one and myself. The most valuable thing I’ve learned is that you can be strong and still ask for help.
More About Me
When I’m not spending time with my family or working, you can find me trying out new makeup and browsing current fashion. I will be the mom wearing matching outfits with her daughter, so look out for pictures! If I had to describe my perfect day, it would be a lazy day spent at home making French toast and watching movies. Other things I enjoy are spending time with my dogs, trying new restaurants, and going camping. Since I was young, I’ve gone camping in northern Michigan with my parents and sister every summer. Wandering outside in the fresh air helps me reset and check in with myself.
My happiness comes from making others laugh and smile. I’m so thankful to be a member of the Lansing Mom community, and I can’t wait to share this crazy and wonderful motherhood journey with you all!
