5 Family Friendly Outdoor Fall Activities

Fall is here! The air is crisp and the leaves are slowly beginning to change. There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to get outside. Grab your coziest sweater and your pumpkin spice latte and head outside to enjoy these favorite fall activities.

1. Go Apple Picking

Clearview Orchards is a family owned farm that grows apples and peaches in Haslett. There are a variety of U-pick apples that you can buy per peck or half bushel. Farm is open through mid-October. Open every day except Mondays. For more options, check out U-Pick Apple Orchards In + Around Lansing.

2. Head to the Cider Mill

Uncle John’s Cider Mill is a perfect day trip activity and has many great attractions. St. John’s is only a short drive from the Lansing area. Their cider and donuts are my favorite in the area. Pick out your pumpkins, go for a hay ride, and even try their house-made hard cider and wine. Open every day except Tuesdays. If you’re up for a little bit of a drive, you could try some of these options as well.

3. Pick Out Some Pumpkins

Barkham Creek Farms is a family owned and operated farm. Pick out your pumpkins and enjoy cider and donuts at this little gem in Haslett, MI. Open Thursday-Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Also, check out this list for pumpkin patches all over Michigan to make a day of it!

4. Get Lost in a Corn Maze

Shawhaven Farm is located in Mason. Enjoy their eight-acre corn maze and over two dozen varieties of pumpkins! For more, Funtober has rounded up all of the corn mazes in Michigan…make a list and check it off!

5. Take a Fall Scenic Walk

Enjoy the changing of the seasons and take a stroll through MSU Campus or on the Lansing River Trail. Both are great places to go to see the trees transform this fall. We have listed our favorite MSU campus activities here.
