Uncle John’s Cider Mill Make it A Family Tradition

It just doesn’t feel like fall to me without a trip to Uncle John’s Cider Mill. Growing up in Ithaca, Uncle John’s was THE local cider mill to visit. My childhood visits have continued into adulthood. Every year, we make at least one trip from Holt to St. Johns for this family tradition.

Our top two favorite spots or activities to enjoy:

  • Grabbing a table behind the Taproom to enjoy our drinks and snacks from local food trucks. The fresh kettle corn and flight of hard cider or wine is a must.
  • Heading upstairs at the cider mill for some fresh cider and donuts. Which is basically the main reason we visit annually in the first place. If you’re lucky, you can even get a glimpse of the cider production.

Our most recent visit was a little different than usual, we had first timers in our group. This allowed us to do activities at Uncle John’s for the first first ourselves.

First time activities:

  • Visit the pumpkin patch. Our kids picked out their favorite pumpkins to decorate. This year we decided to paint instead of carve our pumpkins. The kids could be more involved without the use of cutting utensils.
  • Had a drink and listened to music at the new Cider Yard. Definitely a great place to enjoy the outdoors.
