Make a Kids Boo Basket to Kick Off Halloween Month

Halloween is creeping up faster than a spooky spider! A fun way to kick off the month of October is with a Boo Basket for your kids! What is a Boo Basket? It’s a fun Halloween tradition of filling a basket with things to welcome pumpkin season. Make it as simple or elaborate as you’d like. Boo Basket goodies can be found in all sorts of places! We found our goodies at the Target dollar spot, Michael’s, JoAnns, and on Etsy.

Making a Boo Basket

How do you make a Boo Basket? Your basket can be as simple as a Halloween sticker book and pumpkin pajamas or you can add a variety of things. Think seasonal socks, a cute Halloween t-shirt, coloring books, spooky craft projects, and fall activities. Add in a collection of supplies for a weekly Halloween craft project. Use a small cardboard box and paint it to look like a little haunted house or take the cardboard from an empty toilet paper roll and make a witch.

We love Halloween books, so we decided to add a brand new story to our basket! Display all your Halloween books, so you can enjoy fun stories throughout the fall season.

Once your treats are all gathered, just place them in a wire basket, Halloween candy bucket, or a cute Halloween gift bag. Get creative and add a fun Halloween sign! Then, set the Boo Basket out for your kids to enjoy. You can add to the fun surprise with a Halloween breakfast of pumpkin pancakes or cinnamon rolls and a Halloween cartoon.

The Boo Game

Another fun idea is the Boo Game! It’s a fun way to add a little Halloween magic to your local community. All you do is grab some Halloween treats, place them in a small bag or container, attach the “You’ve Been Booed” sign from this link, and leave it at a neighbor’s front door anonymously. Just like your Boo Basket, it can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. Your neighbors will be so surprised!
