Introducing Liz Sullivan…an East Lansing Mom

Hi, I’m Liz, a new contributor for Lansing Moms!

Meeting my Husband

I grew up in the metro Detroit area but moved to East Lansing in the fall of 2007 to attend Michigan State. I met my husband at MSU during the spring of my freshman year and the rest is history! It still holds true that he is the nicest guy I’ve ever met. He truly has brought so much happiness to my life. He’s always cracking a joke or doing something to make me smile.

I attended MSU for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Speech-Language Pathology, so I am a true Spartan at heart. My husband and I got married in June 2013 and have since renovated three homes, had two babies, and rescued two pups. The past seven years have been a whirlwind and I’m excited to see where the next seven take us.

Raising Babies

In March 2017, we welcomed our first baby, Connor, into the world. He brings us so much joy and fills our life with so much energy and smiles. Fast forward to now– my baby is almost three years old and we just need time to slow down a tad. Cars, monster trucks, trains, you name it, anything that moves is in our house. This boy is mostly sweet but sometimes sassy as we are learning about those oh so “terrible twos.”

Fast forward to August 2018 when we moved into our third house together in the heart of downtown East Lansing. Our house needed a total flip and things got tricky with a 17-month-old on the move. We, or should I say, my husband, loves renovating houses and he’s quite the handyman. I get to play HGTV designer and love to pick out paint colors and help with the designs of our renovations. 18 months later, the interior of our house is almost complete and we are ready to sit back, relax, and finally enjoy.

Shortly after moving, we found out I was pregnant with our second child. Grace was born in June 2019 and she has brought so much sweetness into our lives. Our Gracie is always smiling and just recently started crawling. We are realizing that life just got a whole lot busier now that we have two moving children!

Living and Loving Life

This is my 7th year as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the schools for Jackson County ISD. Although my winter commute is sometimes tough, I truly enjoy my job working with preschoolers to high-schoolers on their speech and language goals. Now, with two children of my own, it is amazing to watch how their speech and language skills develop right before my eyes.

We chose to stay in East Lansing because we love the community. We are huge Spartan fans (GO GREEN!) and love the walkability of our city. We are now walking distance to campus, restaurants, parks, the library, and the community center. We had always dreamed to be close to everything and have access to all the city has to offer.

If I’m not momming or working, you can find me running outside, binge-watching Netflix, watching the Today Show, reading a book, planning our next home project, or wandering the aisles of Target. I am excited to be a part of the Lansing Mom community and help bring together moms in the area. I’m looking forward to this great opportunity and connecting with other moms– because let’s be honest, it really does take a village!
