Love is always in the air! Just because the temperatures are cooling down doesn’t mean you can’t head out for a fall date night with your sweetie. Time is so precious and we all receive love in different ways. Before we get into the busyness of the holiday season, take the time to plan a fall date night. If quality time is on your list, here are eight date ideas for you and your loved one.
The OG – Dinner and a Movie
During the fall, spooky and thriller movies are at the forefront of our minds, but you can choose any film you’d like. We personally love venturing out to NCG Cinemas simply because there are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. If the sitter canceled and you need a plan, have a romantic dinner at home and watch a flick in the coziness of your own bed. You can make the movie selection fun by playing Netflix roulette!
Paint Class, Cooking Class, Cocktail Class
In the Greater Lansing area there are several chances to go out your comfort zone and take one of these classes. Wine and Canvas Lansing is a fun way to create something you can enjoy in your home together. Sweet Encounter Bakery Cafe offers many options like burger building, breakfast and pasta making, and cake decorating. For drinks, Lansing Shuffle provides cocktail classes monthly and weekly during the summer months. Try something new!
Double Date
Text your friends and switch up how things get planned. Let the fellas decide what the activity is and the gals can choose a place to eat. Or, divide the evening like a progressive dinner and head to different spots for appetizers, dinner, dessert, or drinks. Another fun double date idea is to take a day trip to some of the awesome cities in Michigan like Detroit, Grand Rapids, or Traverse City.
Game Night
Check out High Caliber Karting and Entertainment, Breakout Escape Room (this is a personal favorite), and Zap Zone XL where you can eat and drink. If you have to be home with the kids, get your deck of cards and learn a new game like Cribbage, Schnapsen, or Canasta.
Take a Walk, Hike, or Stroll
Michigan falls give us beautiful weather and incredible scenery to enjoy. Fenner Nature Center, Harris Nature Center, and Woldumar Nature Center all have great trails to explore. Or, walk around campus at Michigan State University or the downtown in East Lansing and Lansing.
Catch a Game
There are a variety of sporting events in the Greater Lansing area through the fall months. This includes Michigan State University, Lansing City Futsal (indoor soccer), and Lansing Community College Stars. Even the area high schools can be a fun night to go support your alma mater.
Take a Staycation
If you venture north of Lansing, The Nordic Pineapple is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. Wild Goose Inn in East Lansing is another local bed and breakfast. Or, try The Graduate hotel with its swanky rooftop bar. AC Hotel Lansing is another option and dine at the tasty Italian Toscana Restaurant. Lastly, we have personally asked Grandma and Grandpa to watch the kids at their house, and Mom and Dad had the house all to ourselves. It’s an odd feeling at first but, you get the comfort of your own home with the person you dearly love.
I hope one of these choices rings the bell. Time creeps away from us, so if this is a monthly, or yearly option try to make the time for yourselves. Get creative, set on an adventure and be a tourist in our own wonderful city.
