Celebrate Mother’s Day Locally While Social Distancing

Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and unfortunately, the celebrations may be a little limited this year. In order to keep it special, we’ve rounded up our top ten local picks for Mother’s Day this year!

Flowers

We’re definitely missing the smell of fresh flowers in our home, but many of your local florists are still blooming! We love this gorgeous bouquet from Kindness Blooms Family Farms, a mama-owned business. They will be offering $10 off any online purchase for Mother’s Day with the code MomsRock. Be sure to check out their beautiful blooms and send some happiness your way, or Mom’s way!

Wine

Of course you can grab wine from anywhere but we recommend keeping it local. Head to Burgdorf’s. You can order and pick up, and then head over to Mom’s for a socially distanced glass, or place your own order for you to enjoy over dinner.

Brunch

This one might require getting a little creative, but many places are working to be able to provide meals on a weekly basis. Our recommendations to check are Blondie’s Barn, Groovy Donuts, and Red Haven.

Clothing and Jewelry

A new item usually brings joy, and there are so many places you can shop online. We love to support local businesses in the Lansing area and recommend shopping small for Mother’s Day. Check out Polka Dots Boutique and Retail Therapy.

Gifts for the Home

Looking for something to add to the home? Consider checking out Bradly’s Home and Garden! You can shop online in order to find mom the perfect gift. They have a range of items from home decor, bed and bath, entertaining, and so much more.

Family Portrait Art

This is one Mom is sure to love and it requires no contact! August Rose Illustrations will create a custom drawing based on a family photo. All you have to do is send in the photo you want recreated. It will be the perfect new addition to your home art.

Sweet Treats

Make Mother’s Day special with a sweet treat. Order up something special from Chapelure  or consider a sweet cookie treat from Insomnia Cookies. If you’ve got a local baker you love, be sure to reach out to them– many are open and operating during this time.

Dinner Cooked by You (or Your Spouse)

There are so many options depending on how you want to handle dinner. If you want to cook, or have someone cook for you, we recommend taking the thinking part out by checking out what Red Haven has to offer for family meals. You’re sure to get something delicious and have little prep work!

Dinner Cooked by Someone Else

If you don’t want to cook at all, consider heading to Soup Spoon for dinner. They have their normal menu for takeout plus family style meals as well. Other restaurants to consider are Cosmos, EL Punk Taco, and Maru. You can’t beat a meal cooked by someone who isn’t you and no matter what you’re craving, our Lansing restaurants have got you covered.

Active Moms

So you can’t go in the store and pick something out but Playmakers is still open online to serve you and the active mom in your life. What are you waiting for? Head over there and get the special mom in your life something new for all her home workouts!
